Session 6 of 6

Training Day

Do not worry beforehand about what you are to say, but say whatever is given you at that time; for you are not the ones speaking, but it is the Holy Spirit.

This technique is not for everyone but it really works well at a mall, university campus or large outdoor gathering. We love to do this at Universities because students love to talk about themselves and we get to have cool conversations with them because of it. There are a variety of surveys you can use. We made our own on the topic of identity because it leads into an ARK bible study if they are open to it.

The Looking Glass Self

The looking glass self is a sociology theory that says 'You will become what the most important person in your life thinks about you.'

Three Questions:
1. Who is the most important person and what do they want you to become?
2. Are you becoming what they want for you?
3. What if God became the most important in your life? How would that change your life?

This survey reveals everything you need to know about this person. What kind of family do they come from? Who do they want to be? And what relationship do they have with God? From here, you can be led by the Holy Spirit to ask them specific questions that will help lead them into an encounter with God.

For Example:

How do you think God sees you?
What if you could ask God what He sees when He looks at you?
Have you ever heard God speak to you?

You can share a testimony at this point. How does God speak to you? What has been your experience? Or maybe God is speaking to you about them. During this conversation, I would silently be asking 'God, when you look at this person what do you see?'. I might say 'As you were answering these questions I heard God say this... about you.'
