Definition

Christ is the head of the Church, His body. He directs, nourishes, and protects the Church. Every believer is united to Christ and to one another in Him. He is our supreme authority and the source of all our spiritual life and growth.

Scripture

He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything.
