The Original Christian Creed
1 Corinthians 15:3-5 is considered the oldest Christian creed, summarizing the core of the Gospel:
The 8 Non-Negotiables
The following list are non-negotiables. What I mean is if you are going to call yourself a Christian you must believe these things about God because they have vital implications to the Gospel and what it means to be a follower of Jesus.
The triune God is the creator of all things
Father, Son and Holy Spirit. They are the one true God who has created all things and sustains them until God chooses. They always have been and always will be.
Jesus is both God and man
Jesus has always been in bodily form and always will be. We will experience Jesus as God in His glorified body for all of eternity.
The virgin birth
Jesus came to earth through the miraculous birth of a virgin woman. This is essential to our faith because it fulfills prophecy and proves that Jesus was not born of man's corruptible seed.
The complete atonement
Humanity has been restored back to the relationship God intended for us. All sin has been covered and our conscience has been cleansed. God accomplished this through His death on the cross, burial in the grave and resurrection to earth as God in human form. We receive this salvation by grace through faith and it is perfected in our lives through our obedience to the Holy Spirit.
The bodily resurrection
Jesus literally was resurrected from the dead to earth in bodily form by the power of the Holy Spirit.
The authority of Scripture
That no other writing, teaching or decree of man or angel can be added to or on equal authority as the Bible.
The return of Jesus
Jesus is coming back. Just as He ascended in physical form, He will return in physical form. Know one knows the time but God who has ordained it.
The Church is the Body of Christ
