The Family of God

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, that is, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, being understood by what has been made, so that they are without excuse.

Beloved, let's love one another; for love is from God, and everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

1 John 4:7-8 NASB

In essence, God's nature is perfect love, which reveals the profound truth that God is a family, consisting of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. One family with three persons that all work together in perfect unity to create, implement and perfect what they have made. The earthly ministry of Jesus Christ reveals the exact representation of God's nature to us. He perfectly reveals the character, mind, purpose, will, and heart of the triune God. Those who have encountered the Son through the Holy Spirit have effectively met the Father. He is the visible image of the invisible God. And now, you and I get the privilege to represent Them and their nature to the rest of the world around us.

Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.

Matthew 18:19-20 NASB

To be made in their likeness means we were created with the sole purpose of being part of God's family and displaying God's nature to everything and everyone around us. We can only display God's nature in community with others. This is why Jesus says "where two or three gather.. there I am." Life apart from community with God and people is actually against the nature of God. While, living in community not only pleases God but also serves as a protective shield for us. Christian community is not an option for followers of Jesus. It is a necessity. Show me a victorious follower of Christ and I bet they are surrounded by Christian friends and family who will encourage, edify, correct and confront one another as a way of life.

If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
